May 2006The Scarlet Awards
As Events & Activities Officer for the Students' Union at college, I was organising the large end of year event, 'The Scarlet Awards'. I also used this is my Final Major Project work.
The event was based on Burlesque and required a bold yet grabbing set of promotional material. I ended up desigining a total of 12 pieces for this project involving posters varying from A1 to A3, A6 Flyers, A5 Booklets and even a T-Shirt.
I produced the majority of this work inside Adobe Illustrator, but for the scans and other imagery used I worked with Adobe Photoshop.
March 2006Magazine Branding & Article
To improve our Desktop Publishing skills, my class was assigned a project which would test us in both layout, and graphical skills. We all had to create a fictional magazine, 'Rock' in my case, and write a lengthy feature article to be included in it. My article was on Glasonbury Festival. We had to design a cover, contents page and atleast 4 page for the article. We also had to design a promotional item for our magazines.
I created all of my imagery in Adobe Illustrator including as fine a detail as the sky made of guitars and keyboards. I then worked inside Adobe InDesign which is fast becoming a contender for market leader in the DTP field.
January 2006CD Cover Design
A local Leeds musician, Ian Neal, approached my class with a live brief. He supplied everyone with a copy of his album 'All in the Golden Afternoon' which he was in need of artwork for. I gave it a listen and decided it have a very summery and chilled air to it, and worked upon these concepts to create my final pieces.
I combined my abilities in both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to create this work.
November 2005Book Jackets
I was asked to read 2 books by any author, and re-design the packaging and promotions for the item.
I chose Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code' and 'Deception Point'. I created both book jackets, promotional poster and bookmark advertising both the books all in Adobe Photoshop.
October 2005RACA Promotions
Raising Attainment through the Creative Arts approached my College class with a live brief in the latter end of 2005. We were asked to design them a logo. Once the logo had been picked, we were all then supplied with copy and images which we were to use in creating an A6 postcard, 4 paged A5 booklet and an A3 poster.
I created all of mine within Adobe Illustrator, trying out new blending methods and different ways I could use type and vector images to create a much cleaner design style.
December 2004Desktop Publishing
This was one of my first college projects which involved me having to use the popular Desktop Publishing program Quark. I also used Adobe Photoshop in the creation of this piece.
I was asked to create a fictional company, I used 'umusic', then create a logo for it, and a catalogue containing 20 items which it would sell. My items were all CD's.
